I've been using ZBTs for 15 years and still have my 18" China, 20" ride, 14" hi-hats, and splash all up and working in my studio on my Yamaha Stage Custom kit. Although ZBT crash cymbals eventually need to be replaced with something better (they are great for beginner students, but will crack after a few years, which is still an excellent investment), I have no qualms using ZBTs on the rest of the kit. They work great, and tonally match perfectly with my 18" A fast crash and 16" A Custom crash. I play everything from death metal to jazz and country. Any other drummers that come by are shocked at how well my cymbals all match up. After soundproofing my studio, I did have to place a moongel on my ride. I put it a few inches away from the edge to cancel a bit of the excess sizzle. This gives it a heavier sound and takes away some of the harsher highs. More expensive cymbals are smoother at these frequencies, but this cymbal is amazing bang for your buck, and no one can tell on my recordings or even at the dozens of venues I've brought my kit to.
