The Yamaha APXT2 is a sleek 3/4 size version of Yamaha's best-selling APX500II. This fun, yet well-constructed compact guitar is perfect for travel, practice, busking and even gigging.

Packed with features, the Yamaha APXT2 includes Yamaha’s proprietary Acoustic Resonance Transducer (A.R.T.) System68 pickup system with built-in tuner, Spruce top, Meranti back and sides, Mahogany neck and a Rosewood fingerboard and bridge. It also comes with a sturdy, padded gig bag.

The System68 A. R. T. includes a one-way active preamp and transducer contact pickup system that features mid-boost EQ for tone shaping and a precision chromatic tuner. The transducer system delivers a natural acoustic tone by dampening excessive vibration from the soundboard while picking up small resonances to achieve ideal sensitivity and outstanding dynamic balance.

And what travel guitar would be complete without a gig bag included? The Yamaha APXT2 includes a proprietary gig bag that ensures that it will be able to accompany you on the beach, around campfires or anywhere else your journeys may bring you.

Great buy

Great sounding guitar for our 10 year old beginner!

Yes, if the need arose

Very good product & great price!

Best Travel Guitar Ever

I love this guitar--it's adorable and I can play it for hours without my fingers hurting. Great set up from Sam Ash--nice action and intonation. And the build-in tuner and pickup are both excellent. Shipped fast--and a great price, too.

Super fun little guitar!

What a fun guitar...I have really had a hard time putting it down! Plays great right out of the box. Bought mine to have a travel guitar and it meets my needs perfectly. I recommend a better gig bag as the one included lacks padding. Shipping was quick and everything arrived in perfect condition. Thanks Sam Ash.

Great purchase

Wonderful guitar and wonderful service

Great size and sound, heavy neck, high action.

Great size, nice sound. However, it is heaver than expected - the neck is heavy - and the action is high. Strings that come with it are too thick for beginners. I bought it because I have and like its big sister, Yamaha thinline APX500ii and wanted to try it with certain students ( < 5' tall adults and adults in wheelchairs). I will try to update this review when I've used the guitar for awhile.

Poor quality finish. Poor sound. Returned it next day and purchased a better Yamaha model.

This is my 2nd APXT2. The first one I loved, but was a "hero" to a friend and sold it to them not realizing how I'd miss it. I have the guitar tuned A to A using a set of D'Addario Acoustic Guitar 80/20 Environmental X Lite, .010 - .047, EJ10 "moved back" one string position, and with a .007 as the high A string, and the low .047 string unused. It sounds mighty sweet in this configuration! I bought this as a "USED" instrument from Sam Ash on eBay, but if it was ever "used" in any way, It was in no way obvious to me! This came boxed with gig bag and all factory paperwork. The guitar is vwery well-made and is a product of Yamaha's Indonesian works. I have no complaint about the craftsmanship. As far as I can see it is flawless. The handy internal tuner and pickup electronics work perfectly. I had this guitar out recently at a jam, and it got a lot of positive comments, plus a couple purchase offers. This is one of many quality guitars I own including 3 Martins, 2 Cox Customs, 3 Brazilian Gianninis, and an Eastman, and it's the one in a stand beside my recliner for instant use.

Best in its size for price

Great travel guitar. Love the size and slick feel. Sounds fine when you plug it in and it runs on 2 AA batteries. Not much not to like. The case is very minimal. I suggest buying a Baby Taylor gig bag on eBay. Fits perfect and much more padding.

Great for travel and young children. Good value.

Perfect size for my 9 year old to learn on and was impressed with the quality. The sound is nice for the size. It is also a nice size for camping or traveling. I like the convenience of the built in tuner but it has a very narrow flat/sharp range. I haven't played it through an amp yet so I can't comment on those aspects. Those with wider fingers or large hands may find it difficult to play in the open position due to the 3/4 size and the slightly narrower neck, but it should fit the majority. It has a very nice fit and finish to it with a matte/ satin finish. The setup and action is good and it holds its tune well. I'm very pleased with it in relation to the cost.
