I was looking for something different than what I had for recording... but also Live Play. I have several guitars, Dreadnoughts, Parlor , a Classical Nylon and even a 40 year old Ovation Balladeer! I wanted something with a Large Deep Clear sound that had a lot of dynamic range. I listened to a lot of Videos and set myself to focus on the Epiphone Jumbo, an Alvarez Jumbo, and this one. The Alvarez had numerous reports of Electronics failures so even though acoustically it had a nice sound... that kind of issue was a deal killer for me, because I want to play it live as well. The Washburn just had the sound I was after, and the look! I tried for months to find one locally to play but not a SINGLE dealer had one. I took a chance by buying it unplayed, but Sam Ash said they had a very good return policy so I took the plunge and scored big time. The guitar came really well packed and in perfect condition. I am entirely pleased with this so it's a keeper. The sound is more balanced like a concert sized guitar, but deeper, projects more... more clear deep bass, and it has more headroom... It is like you can go from soft finger picking to soft strumming to loud strumming without it choking or sounding compressed. I can't say enough good things about it. At first I was a little nervous about it being a Jumbo size... some folks online were all in a snit about how large it was. They made it sound like you would be strapping on an Upright Bass! Well believe me... it is BARELY bigger in the profile but it is deeper in the thickness and of course the lower bought is wider... but the waist is smaller. I have had ZERO problems playing it sitting down. Anyway... for Washburn and the good Folks of Sam Ash?.. 2 thumbs UP!
