A stretch 5A for extra reach. Great for jazz and fusion.

Each Vic Firth Signature Series model was conceived though extensive discussion and research with the finest drummers from a variety of musical styles. The designs are a reflection of their musical requirements in terms of balance, feel, sound projection and cymbal color. All sticks are in hickory.

I have and will continue to buy these, I highly recommend!

I have been making a living as a drummer for over 47 years, and the last few years it has been while using the DeJohnette model stick! Prior too, I have been using the traditional 5/b, 5/a, 7a, etc., and although they were good, I was always missing the length - I would have always preferred more length without the sacrifice of the balance, feel/stick response, for thats what I would have had to do, and bottom line when you cant have it all, you take what the meat and potato's require for you to do your job as best as possible. That was until about 7 years ago. After 40 years of playing I finally found the perfect stick (for me!); gives me all I have ever wanted in a stick - the DeJohnette model - like the player modeled after, its perfect drumming. I dont have to alternate any longer when either playing Jazz, Rock, Pop, country, whatever style, its the only stick I use. Oh! and they dont chip away as fast as all the others from the past, so when the gig is done, it doesnt look like a beaver was sitting there. When playing Rock, I am a hard hitter, and use constant rim-shots - so as mentioned they last, they can take a beating...

My favorite pair of sticks!!

I use these sticks when I practice and perform on set with my jazz and combo groups. They are excellent!

Breaks easy!!!

I have been using these sticks for a number of years. They are normally balanced well and the weight and length have been very good(Nylon tip). The pitch have been very solid so when you hit that right spot on the snare for instance you get a strong sound. But............these sticks have started to break too easily lately after just a few hours of average play. Also the weight and pitch have been inconsistent. So I buy 6-7 pairs at time and 1 pair are unusable except in the case of needing a light pair with a wimpy sound. So a great stick that used to literally last months and whittle out before breaking now just break. The wood tip of the same model have never broke except the tips chipping away.
