Best low cost musician's ear plugs I've ever used. They do muffle tone a bit, but I can hear much more clearly than with the lower cost Etymotic ear plugs, for example. They do NOT have flat attenuation; they attenuate more at the frequencies that can damage your ears more easily. I have volume sensitivity due to light auditory nerve damage from a lot of loud music, and these plugs keep my ears comfortable. I always use the green filters; they work even when I'm playing live and standing in front of the drums. The red filters are really for drummers, I think, and they attenuate much more than the green ones. That means they muffle tone more. This is an issue as I am a singer and I can't dial in my voice like I can dial in my electric guitar. These ear plugs let through more of the detail in the vocal range than any other low cost musician's ear plugs that I have tried. I think I would need to spend $100 - $200 to get better ones.
