I got this stick after a long search for the perfect stick. I don't think that this is the one. The NUDE finish gives a comfortable grip, and the sticks have fantastic rebound. However, there are two problems. First, if you're playing hard and fast, the impact of hitting a drum or cymbal makes the drumstick slide slightly. Not as much as a normal, non-gripping stick, but it still does. After a while, this gave me huge, painful blisters. It probably won't do this for some people, but it might, just the same. The second reason is that the absence of a protective lacquer decreases durability. Take a pair of regular Vic Firth 5a's I had. After being used for more than a year, there were many nicks, but they were still solid and great-feeling. Then, two weeks after I got this stick, I broke one. I have NEVER broken a stick before. And, in fact, just playing one song covered the stick with nicks and scratches. I guess it really depends on what kind of feel you have. If you break lots of sticks, don't try these.
