Flashback Delay. The sounds, the vibe, TonePrints, the entire package - it was a smash hit that rocked the world. But TC Electronic is more about moving things forward and listening to the feedback from the guitar community. And so, when wishes for things like presets and tap-tempo started rolling in, they listened. And boy, did they knock it out of the park.

• 16 delay types
• Three presets
• Tap Tempo

Delay Done Right
Think of your favorite delay sounds and chances are it's a TC Electronic sound. TC Electronic delays are the industry standard, and our 2290 Dynamic Digital Delay is one of the most coveted pieces of gear out there today. The folks at TC Electronic know and love delay, and they’ve made sure Flashback X4 delivers the legendary TC Electronic quality at every turn. From the awesome digital 2290 sounds to beautiful analog tape echoes and more exotic vibes of a reverse delay, Flashback X4 delivers every delay sound under the sun - past, present and future.

The Delay Guitarists Deserve
Flashback X4 is so much more than the sum of four Flashback pedals. The Flashback X4 uses the Flashback's amazing sounds but allows you to switch between flavors with three presets that can be as different and varied as you need them to be.

Creativity In Your Own Tempo
The tap tempo feature was a no-brainer as that is already a fan favorite with other TC Electronic delay pedals. You can easily set delay times or sync up with for example a drummer. Match delays to your guitar rhythms or solo ideas and diversify your playing with different tempos.

TonePrint Enabled - Signature Effects
Dripping with the DNA of rock, TonePrints are free, custom tuned tweaks of your favorite pedals, provided by your favorite guitarists! TonePrints give you access to an effect as it is used by the artist of your choice - so you can tap directly into the TC Electronic tones used by rock royalty and turn your stompbox into the signature pedal of your favorite axe-slinger. Oh, this being the 21st century and all, TC Electronic has a TonePrint App which allows you to beam TonePrints from your phone to your TonePrint pedal. Easy, fast and totally free of charge!

True to Tone
You love tone, so does TC Electronic, and their design philosophy testifies to that. So whatever route you wanna go, they’ve got your back. With optimized headroom, True Bypass or Buffered Bypass switch and Kill-Dry on/off, this pedal guarantees optimal tonal integrity and zero loss of tone. And, no matter if the pedal is on or off your precious dry sound is always passed through the pedal unharmed in all it's pure analog glory due to an Analog-Dry-Through.

Backstage Pass - All Access
The TC Electronic Flashback X4 does two things: minimize hassle and maximize sounds. It’s simple to operate but has many options while the sounds and TonePrint functionality span the complete spectrum of delay in the most musical way possible. All that is fantastic, but take a closer look and find out that X4 is totally dedicated to the beauty of delay.

Separated At Birth
In Flashback X4, the delay engine is completely separate from the one handling looping. This means total dedication to the sound you want to get and the cool ability to add delay to your loops.

Delay’s Delight
15 delay types are at your disposal, all done in world renowned TC Electronic quality.

Room To Rock
Flashback X4 is equipped with 4 TonePrint slots, allowing you to load your favorite signature delay effects as done by the artists on our TonePrint roster. Oh, and since this is the 21st. century, you can load TonePrints via your smartphone.

Mix And Match
The subdivision selector on Flashback X4 allows you to choose quarter notes or dotted eights, but has a nifty feature that allows you to select or mix either/both when using dual delays, adding flexibility, creativity and unexpected results!

Positive Feedback
No, this is not the Marshall-like squeal we know and love, but it does allow you to set the number of repeats you want from short and slappy to total timewarp.

Ember To Inferno
Subtle to screaming, this is the knob you rely on for setting the volume of your delay level.

Time For Tones
Turn this dial all the way down for really short repeats. Turn up until you find your preferred amount of delay. Turning it all the way up will give you a whopping 7 seconds of delay time in most modes.

Simply Delay
Flashback X4’s controls and I/O options are aimed at one thing: making life easier for you. Dialing in sounds, loading TonePrints and integrating it into your set-up is a synch. There’s Mono and Stereo options and even an expression pedal, allowing you to control any delay parameter available.

Level The Playing Field
Change how loud the loops that are being played back to you are. Turn clockwise for maximum you, counterclockwise for a more conservative approach.

The World At Your Feet
A much requested feature from the original Flashback Delay: presets. here they are, three presets at your disposal but now the questions becomes: how to divide your time between three great accesible sounds?!

Creativity In Your Own Tempo
Instantly synch up your delays with your band’s tempo, the ideas in your head or whatever else is guiding you without taking your hands of the guitar or bending over the pedal. Simply tap the tempo with your foot and get on with things!

X4 Gives Great Headroom
From guitar- to amp effect loop signals, Flashback X4 handles anything you throw at it with ease.

Express Yourself
Flashback X4s total dedication to delay shines brightly in the expression pedal input. Many guitarists dream to have direct control over delay parameters and Flashback X4 gives you exactly that. But it’s just not one parameter you can control, you can choose to control either the delay time, the feedback or the delay level of your sounds, giving you unprecedented control (and a good reason to pretend you are Steve Morse).

USB / Beam
Yep - there’s a USB port. But it’s not for boring stuff, TC Electronic has got some features in store that they want to put out once they’ve perfected them or once music is ready. And those updates would be free. You can also load TonePrints via the USB, but all the hip kids are doing it via the TonePrint app on their smartphone. It works wirelessly and flawlessly and it’s also totally free.

I/O Stealing The Show
Flashback X4 allows for MIDI clock sync - perfecting delay times to your exact wishes. You can change presets and control X4 externally, for example if you wanna have it in a rack or safely in your backline.

No Time Wasted - Plug And Go!
One of life’s nice little surprises is that Flashback X4 comes with a 9 V DC power supply included, so you dont have to waste any time and can get straight to rocking.

Loopy For Creativity
Flashback X4 has a 40 second looper so you can jam to your heart’s content - oh, and TC Electronic added an ‘undo’ function to speed up workflow and increase fun.

Maximum Signal Integrity
Flashback X4 goes with the flow like TC Electronic's other TonePrint enabled pedals. Whatever your set-up or situation, Flashback X4 can adapt and guarantee optimal signal integrity - via small dip switches, Flashback X4 can be set to either True Bypass or Buffered Bypass.

Bang for Buck, Nothing touches this

What an amazing sounding pedal. For something that seems so complex it honestly was a breeze to get ripping on this thing. I honestly read the manual completely before even plugging it up and was amazed at how honestly simple the functionality actually was. The crazy thing that really blew me away was the tone. The sound was an obvious as can be difference from my previous delay unit. The tone prints are very cool and while not every print is really for me I did find a few that really made me inspired. The ability to bust my smartphone out and get the sounds I need in seconds really is hands down a big deal on this thing as well as the ability to craft your own personal delay in the tone print. While the unit takes up a lot of space on your board I is worth it. I couldn't imagine it being smaller with my big feet because I would be hitting 2 buttons at a time. Only downside is it is picky about power supplies and didn't agree with my current supply. I got a VooDoo Lab iso 5 and cured my issues. However it also comes with a power supply to use which is great considering. If you have been wondering about this unit. Stop. Just get it.

Great Sound with some major bugs

I actually got this thing because the unit is extremely solid feeling and has a massive amount of range of features. A lot of it's abilities are things I was in need of for the tour more specifically, the tap tempo and presets. When I got it home I updated the firmware and then played it. The sound was really really amazing. Instantly fell in love with it. However within a few minutes I started noticing an issue. I would activate a delay and the signal seemed really dry. Upon stopping the track I was practicing too I notice that the dry signal was all that was coming through. I had to unplug it to reset it. The delay was working again. I would tap the tempo and then a minute or two later the tap tempo light would be flashing insanely fast and then go solid. Once this happened the unit was back to dry signal only. The other thing I noticed was the saved preset I had made after I unplugged it was back to factory. It didn't remember it. Upon reading more in TC Electronics forums and other forums, I discovered that these issues are INSANELY common. I'll be taking this unit back and getting something else. I am so bummed out about this because it sounds great and had everything I needed.
