Until now, the only acoustic bass guitars I could find that were loud enough unplugged were almost too big to play comfortably and a nuisance to transport. This little number solves both those issues. I don't know if the mojo comes from the custom strings, the wood/construction, or a combination of both, but this little puppy is loud unplugged. Fit and finish is what you would expect (excellent) from a mid-level Taylor axe. The short scale, thin neck, and ultra-slinky proprietary strings make it a real pleasure to play! Tone-experimenters may be disappointed by the inability to use different strings, but that's not a problem in my world. It even comes with a custom soft sided hardcase to further facilitate portability. The only adjustment you may have to make is to soften your playing style. It's easy to stray out of pitch if you play too aggressively. A light touch is all that's required. Slap it, and it will protest. Stroke it and it will sing. Plugged in tone is nice, but it is prone to the feedback that is endemic in all acoustic-electrics, but the soundhole takes a regular 4" plug to help mitigate this. I didn't buy it to plug it in anyway. Very nice! A bit pricey but, you know, Taylor. On top of all that, it's a real conversation starter when playing it in public. "That's a bass?"
