One of the biggest reasons budding guitarists lose interest in learning and playing the guitar is due to the lack of quality, playability and sound of many entry-level instruments. Keeping this in mind, Taylor is proud to introduce the Academy Series of instruments, which gives students and beginners an affordable instrument that doesn't sacrifice in quality, playability and tone. Making a Taylor guitar more accessible than ever before, the Academy Series was developed with the novice guitarist in mind, but is equally suited for seasoned players that are looking for a budget-friendly option. Each Academy Series model boasts Taylor's signature sleek, hand-friendly necks, a comfortable armrest, great sound, and Taylor-quality construction.

Featuring smaller Grand Concert body made from a solid Sitka spruce top with layered sapele back & sides, the Academy Series A12e is a great choice for fingerstyle players, players with a light touch, and players who find comfort in a more compact instrument. The A12e also features an ergonomic armrest, which offers an ultra-comfortable playing experience while adding an elegant look. The mahogany neck offers an outstanding playing feel thanks to its slim profile design, shorter 24-7/8" scale length, narrower 1-11/16" nut width, low action, and light gauge strings. Ready to plug in and play? The Taylor A12e comes equipped with onboard ES-B electronics featuring Taylor Expression System 2 piezo design elements for superb plugged-in sound. The preamp also boasts a built-in digital chromatic tuner so that you can be sure your guitar's in tune. Comes complete with lightweight gig bag.

Great guitar - great store!

Great guitar. Great experience dealing with Sam Ash. I would definitely purchase from them again. Bought this guitar for my daughter as she is just learning to play. It is an amazing instrument. Love it!

Great experience

I came in for a Gibson and after a few hours I landed in this Taylor. I took my wife on vacation with the money I didn't spend on the Gibson.

Great starter guitar

Great for a beginner, easy to play and sounds amazing. Def a must have.

I would by this again

Go see Brian at Sam A in Sarasota He helped me out and could not be more pleased. I have not played in a while and this guitar is perfect for starting up again. It's not the least expensive but I won't have to upgrade. The tone is perfect.

I would like buy more guitars like mine, perfects

my purchase was made through the website , the employee was super helpful, and I received my guitar in 3 days . I appreciate this team Thank you !!🎸❤️👏🏻

1st real guitar

Very great guitar! Amazing to learn on for being a beginner player.

Small hands, arms and fingers rejoice! Be sure to try this!

After spending hours playing all of the acoustic guitars at my local Sam Ash, I landed on this Taylor Academy 12e Grand Concert Acoustic. In my mind I was looking for a smaller what they refer to as "travel size" or "mini" guitar as I am a girl blessed with small short and wonderfully stubby fingers. After playing several guitars, I kept coming back to this one. Yes, it is bigger than the GS Mini or the Mini Martins and Taylors, but because it is a bit bigger, the tone is so much nicer and strangely I was able to manage it even though it looked and somehow is a bigger guitar. What made this guitar playable for me was the cut out area that allows my short arm to reach the strings for a comfortable strum. In fact, because of the cut out, I am able to hold a more consistent strum on this model than smaller models. Go figure! Keeping with the theme of comfort, this guitar is very well balanced & the double cut away body allows me to play a larger bodied guitar. The neck is also the same radius and circumference that you will find on the GS Mini, so it feels pretty manageable. As a comparison, my husband has a larger beautiful Martin Dreadnaught guitar, and when I pick this up-I feel like a kid wearing their dad's shoes. So if you are looking for a guitar that is on the small side because you fear that you won't be able to handle a "normal" acoustic, please try this! The tuners on this guitar do not appear to be anything fancy-but they work extremely well. The guitar stays in tune and I don't experience any weird movement of the strings. In my opinion, this guitar also has terrific tone and actually very surprising volume and sustain given that it isn't quite a full bodied guitar. Others have shared that the battery life in the onboard electronics are crummy. I've owned this only 1 month, but have not experienced any issues with the battery. What else can I say. It's a beautiful well made instrument, and I am appreciative that Taylor made it for me!

Taylor for life.

Beautiful guitar! I really enjoy the built in tuner. The woodwork is top notch! My last Taylor was stolen on my change of duty station. So it means a lot to have another amazing instrument. Thanks again Sam Ash for all the help!

Not for me

Sad to say this instrument was not for me, It was very well made and played very well,,,,,however the choice of materials for the back and sides proved to be less than I had expected....

I would recomend this guitar

great Guitar for the price. easy to play, sound is bright and full.
