Big Bucket Punch with Big Bucket Problems
Off the shelf with the single ply head was difficult to tune and get the ringing overtones out. But when I put the double ply head and retentioned the snare wires I got a big beefy THWOP! Still had to use either Studio Rings or a couple Moongels to get the metallic ring out. The Big Bucket problem was mostly the depth. I have 3 snare stands and none of them go low enough to put the snare in my lap. I have to sit a few inches higher than I'm used to and that took some getting used to. Also none of the big box music stores in my city had 15" heads. Nothing an internet search couldn't fix, but get a couple of them because last minute replacements aren't available. But all in all it's a great big sound for recording and it will definitely get used on some of the less technical, big beat style drumming
