The designers at Tama created an extremely light-weight, compact stand that provides stable support to allow drummers to lay into cymbals with confidence and enable lightning-quick set-up and tear-down.  The classic shape is sure to please vintage drum fanatics who desire the look and performance of pure flat-based stand, but with contemporary functionality.

Thoughtful, player-friendly elements are appointed throughout the stand design. The upper rod is solid (a feature appreciated by vintage enthusiasts that provides the cymbal to ring unimpeded by metal mass), and includes a thin "o" ring at the end that eliminates rattle, which vintage stands can be prone to.  Wing nuts are appropriately small, but feel comfortable to the fingers.  and fine-tooth gear tilter allows for incremental cymbal angles, while holding the cymbal firmly in place.  Tripod legs fold up against the stand to reduce height for easy transport and the tripod leg rubber tips give an understated, vintage look, that fit snugly onto the leg for consistent stability.

The challenge to reinvent the flat-based cymbal stand has been embraced and conquered.  Tama's design team captured the essence of the original stand and added fully- functional design contemporary elements that offers the ultimate in set-up, tear-down and performance.

More stable, compact and lighter than DW or Gibraltar stands

I own both the Gibraltar and DW flat base cymbal stands and the Tama model is light years ahead of both. This stand is lighter, folds MUCH smaller and - most importantly - is most stable. I can (and do) hang a 24" ride cymbal off of this and it will not tip over. It appears to be a reincarnation of the 1960s Ludwig stands with better manufacturing. The post, though, is 8mm instead of 6mm that the Ludwig stand used. I personally think that whoever designed this stand consciously refused to over engineer it the way DW did theirs, and also took the time to see the shortcomings in the Gibraltar stands and rectify those ... and, of course, take the tried and true example from the real vintage stands like Ludwig's.

Great Stand for a great price

Gets the job done, fairly lightweight and good price for a sturdy, brand new stand.
