Comments about Studio Projects VTB1 Variable Tube Microphone Preamp:

Love this preamp. I'm on a limited budget and wanted the basics to record guitar, bass and vocals through my sound card. I tried the M-audio Audio buddy and Mobile Pre. Both provided clear sound, but I wanted the option of adding some warmth. After a little research I found reviews claiming this preamp gives much more expensive preamps a run for their money. I don't have experience with more expensive preamps, but I think this baby is perfect for me. Clear when you want it to be, plus the tube blend adds a nice sheen to vocals and made the sound of direct recorded bass SO much better. If you're on a budget but want a flexible preamp that will grow with you, I definitely recommend the VTB1.
