Better than expected
I wanted to play this in person as I had feared it would not be balanced to play...wrong! Delightful, deep, throaty bottom end, very pleased...(played through Quilter/Acme B2 combo)...great travel bass!

Nothing looks like a Steinberger and nothing performs like one either!

Beautiful bass that plays as good as it looks! Impossible to tell this was "re-conditioned" absolutely as good as new!

I have always wanted to try a Steinberger. I find this a very comfortable bass to play, especially in the sitting position, and I don't have a problem with it shifting to the left. The Labella Stainless Steel flats fit perfectly and with the expert setup by the Sam Ash luthier this bass plays like a dream. It is fun to play and I don't want to put it down when I finally get tired. It is light weight and compact and therefore easy to carry around, especially with the shoulder straps on the gig bag that comes with the bass. The fretwork is very good and well dressed and the adjustments are sooooo easy to make. The Spirit is good for just about any genre and is very comfortable to play with a pick or with fingers. I am very happy with this purchase and would recommend that any bass player try one out.

I use this bass for home recording. I will admit, I bought it cause I think it's futuristic & yellow is my favorite color. Not a lot of coin for a lot of fun!

I have been interested in one of these for a long time. I was never able to get my hands on one to try. I didn't want the hassle of sending one back if I didn't like it. I'm playing bass in my first band. My aging back let's me know about it after rehearsals. Finally I decided to just go ahead and order one. I'm so glad I did. It took a day longer to get here because of the N'oreaster. A couple turns of the tuning knobs and it was good to go. A nice variety of sounds are possible. Neck is nice and straight, action is fine, no buzzes. No sharp fret ends, no finish flaws. It takes a little getting used to. The lower frets are a little farther away. The upside is the higher frets are a little more accessible. We have band rehearsal tomorrow, I can't wait to try it out with the whole band tomorrow. I have to figure out a guitar stand for it, modify or make one. I love this bass. This could well be my main bass. It's a nice addition to my P-bass and Jaguar P/J basses. If you are thinking of getting one of these, get one.

I started playing bass sometime around 1991 and have gone through a few bass guitars. A friend that was moving out of state quit playing and gave me the bass as a gift around 1994 (Thanks again Thomas!). It's now 2009 and gave/sold some of my bass guitars but this one I will never depart with! Not just because a bud gave it to me but the sound is so sweet and it's light weight compared to other bass guitars I've played! I don't play as much as I use to but when I just feel like strumming it's this bass I always pick up! Plus a few friends always ask if I ever decide to sell it let them know, but I just tell them go to Sam Ash and buy one! I charge way more! lol
