The Freedom to Inspire
Samson’s XPD1 USB Digital Wireless System allows journalists, podcasters, and bloggers to capture high definition audio straight to their mobile device. Completely portable and easy to set up, XPD1 provides over 30 meters of reliable wireless operation. With three different configurations available (Handheld, Lavalier [lapel], Headset), XPD1 is the perfect sound solution for mobile filmmakers.
The three main problems with the built-in microphones of mobile devices are directionality, range and sensitivity. These tiny internal microphones are essentially unusable for interviews and field recording as they only pick up audio in the direction of the camera with distance being restricted between the videographer and subject. XPD1 allows close miking of the subject without cumbersome cables running from the microphone to the recording device.
Cut Through the Noise
Exciting news pieces seldom take place in quiet areas. With an XPD1 Handheld system, a cardioid microphone pickup pattern rejects external/environmental noise, capturing only the natural voice of your subject. This makes the system ideal for live streaming occasions like conventions, sporting events and live music concerts. The XPD1 Lavalier system is ideal for instructional “How To” videos, while the XPD1 Headset system is great for animated lectures and presentations.
Set Up and Shoot
The XPD1 system offers plug-and-play operation with most mobile devices and computers. For iPhone/iPad users, simply add an Apple Lightning to USB Camera Adapter and you’re off and running. For compatible Android devices, add a USB OTG cable and your mobile rig is complete. Pairing the transmitter to the receiver is accomplished with a single switch, while volume adjustments can be made on-the-go via the transmitter’s internal gain setting selector. The XPD1 even operates in the license free 2.4GHz digital spectrum, making it exempt from Country-specific wireless regulations.
