Johnny Marr Turns Up The Heat

Guitarist Johnny Marr may be best known as a member of The Smiths, but his latest release and follow-up to 2013’s “The Messenger” may well change that. Marr recorded the record at London’s Tritone studio which he describes as “a real guitar player’s studio” was inspired in part by legendary Irish guitarist Rory Gallagher, who would often hit the recording studio right after a live show to capture the energy of a live performance.

Like Gallagher, Marr is associated with Fender guitars. He has a signature model Fender Jaguar and favors both the Fender ’65 Deluxe Reverb and ’65 Super Reverb amplifiers. Marr discusses his passion for Fender gear in a new short film. He also performs four songs.
