Congratulations to our good friend Chris Martin IV on receiving the Rainforest Alliance Sustainable Standard-Setter Award on behalf of C.F. Martin & Co. The award was given at the Rain Forest Alliance’s annual gala at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City on May 7, 2014. The annual dinner and awards ceremony recognizes industry champions who prioritize environmental sustainability.

In 2009 Martin Guitar was one of the first acoustic guitar manufacturers to produce a guitar model comprised entirely of Forest Stewardship Council Chain of Custody certified woods. Since then, they have produced a number of acoustic guitars from FSC® Chain of Custody certified woods and have been a leading force in the industry for developing new products that meet these strict standards.

The choice of tonewoods defines an acoustic guitar’s sound from the moment it leaves the factory. How those woods age over time will define that instrument’s tone for the future. So, Martin takes its wood selection very seriously. In developing models with sustainable tonewoods, C.F. Martin is also taking the future of the world’s precious rainforests very seriously. And for that, we both thank and applaud them.
