Illicit Ghost (formed 2018) wants you to find freedom in her unique sound. The Brooklyn-based artist, producer, singer, and violinist began playing violin at 3 years old and from there started writing her own songs as a teenager. Writing music was the only way she felt she could truly express herself. A few years ago, she learned how to use Ableton so that she could produce her songs and get them out into the world. Illicit Ghost has performed at many venues in NYC such as Bowery Electric, Ludlow House, Rockwood Music Hall, Coney Island Baby and Trans-Pecos. You will usually find the leather-clad loner diffusing essential oils, writing music under her covers at 2AM or on the ground losing herself in a violin solo on-stage. She has released four songs to date beginning in 2018, each with its own liberating message. “Drunk and Alone” is about finding happiness in being yourself; her cover of Pink Floyd’s “Money” is a reminder that material things should not define or control you. “Parties by Myself” is about doing your own thing and not caring what others think. Her most recent single “Precious” is about reclaiming power. Illicit Ghost looks forward to a prolific and active year in 2019, with more music and regular live performances in store.
