I bought this because it was recommended by a friend. I was looking for something that was light weight and easy on my hands. I have a Fender Roscoe Beck 5 string that I love but sometimes it feels like a workout because the fret board is so wide. I was looking for an alternative to that. The SpectorCore 5 was a good call. Love the weight. Like the feel. Not sure how about the Piezo pick up. Not really my sound. Lots of treble there. The B string isn't really being projected by that pickup either. Might not be working right. The front soap bar pickup sounds great. The bass growls very nicely and sounds fantastic in headphones. I've only taken it out 2 times on live gigs so I'm not sure yet if it will cut with a live band. Some basses do better than others. I put LaBella flatwounds on it to help with cut because I've found flatwounds find a spot in a live music mix easier than round wounds. I don't really "slap" much so I don't need the round wound tone. I was a little disappointed in the tuner mounting. They are slightly off. Seem to work fine but I might end up replacing with something a little better. All in all, I like the bass and thought it a good purchase to ease my aching back.
