Outstanding bass

Good bass for the money. I have had mine for years now and still love it.

Very good bass

I am a very busy bassist and I play in the school Jazz band, Choir combo band, and Church band. This bass is great for all of the categories. It sounds lovely and is well built and sturdy. When I first purchased it, I was having trouble with fret buzz but after a very quick and simple neck adjustment it no longer buzzed. It's more heavy than an Ibanez bass but as long as you have a wide strap the weight is typically not an issue. The black cherry finish is beautiful and looks great on stage. One of the best features is the EQ knobs. You can adjust the bass and treble and mid without even touching your amplifier to get the sound you desire. It's very fun to play and I highly recommend purchasing it if you're interested in a 5 string bass next Sam Ash sale.

Great on day 1.then it really grows on u

This instrument as a tremendous latitude. You can make it as polite as you want, or you can make it punch so much your drummer will be jealous (seriously!). It plays well with both high and low action although slapping works better with lower action on this instrument. My band mates are very impressed...and they have had many pros in the band. The neck is positively inviting. It's fast without being slippery. Mine holds a tune a week at a time (and I play a lot-daily)[...]It's sonic versatility, quality, outstanding sound and punch make it a bass to grow in to...even it you're a pro!Factory setup is good; after you have had it for a while, set it up to taste; you won't regret it.

Great for 5-string beginners!

This bass is great. I've owned one for about 7 months now and it was the first 5-string I picked up. It gets great tone, especially with the EMG pickups. You can use the tone knobs to independently adjust the pickup activity. I've been playing 6-string guitar and 4-string bass for a long time and I have to say, this has sold me on 5-string basses. For the price, I wouldn't suggest any other guitar. However, my only complaint is that it has *really* high action, so if you're trying to keep soft fingertips or trying to play insane fast (common time >= 180bpm) I wouldn't suggest it. If you're interested in this bass I highly recommend finding one at your local Sam Ash and trying it out. Make sure to try expressions (pull-offs, hammer-ons, slides, slap and pop, etc.) along with just fretting notes as the high action makes these a wee bit more difficult. All in all, if you're new to 5-string and you like the feel of the guitar, get it. Bottom line. You won't be disappointed. But please please please try this guitar out a good bit before buying, as I've said before, because the high action may not be for you.
