The Shure SM-86 is a unidirectional (cardioid) condenser vocal microphone for professional use in live performance. An extremely rugged microphone, the SM86 withstands the rigors of touring while delivering studio-quality sound. The tailored frequency response (50 Hz to 18 kHz) of the SM86 reproduces vocals with clarity. A cardioid polar pattern isolates the main sound source while minimizing unwanted background noise. The built-in three-point shock mount minimizes handling noise, and a two-stage pop filter reduces wind and breath "pop" noise. The SM86 is an excellent selection for use with both stage monitors and personal in-ear monitors.

Great Mic recommended by great service!

I use this mic to record me singing or scatting for Jazz Band Classes as well as to play saxophone online with my friend who lives in Blacksburg! I read the instructions and watched some online videos and I sound great when i record songs I play on my Bari Sax. They guy who recommend I step up from the just SM57 was very nice and very knowledgeable!! I am appreciative of his advice. I love this mic! #sweepstakes

I will replace other mics with the Beta57A as needed

I use this mic daily. The sound is super clean and crisp. I like the compactness as it fits into our stroge case with ease.

Best Sax mic for live performance at this price

This is the best mic I have ever used during live performances for all my saxophones at this price.

Excellent service and great microphone.

We use the microphone twice a week. It is great quality at a good price. Evelyn who works at the shop in Edison was extremely helpful in my purchase. She answered all my questions and went outside her field of percussion to help me with the microphone purchase.

I'm sure about my Shure Beta 57A

I used this product for vocals with an acoustic guitar for small to medium-sized venues using a PA with mixer or with an acoustic amplifier with tremendous results. I had used a Shure SM58 for years. I played a show next to a friend with over forty years of performance experience. Singing and playing the guitar and harmonica is the only job she's had since she was four years old. She used a Beta 57A. I was amazed how good I felt and how good I felt about how I sounded. The next day at my house, I took out an old pair of SM 57's someone had given me. I had been told 57's were for instruments and 58's were for vocals. They were myopic. The difference with the sound of my voice was palpable. I researched 57's and read an article about how Chris Cornell, God rest his soul, told people they were the microphones he felt most comfortable about handling the power of his voice. The 57 makes me feel comfortable about just letting my voice fly. It makes for a much better sound a much better performance for both me and the audience. Thank you, Sure and Sam Ash.

Sure SM86: Small Cost. Big Sound.

This mic sounded pretty good out of the box. I got it home and plugged it in to my Digidesign 003 and just sang some scratch vocals and i was pretty impressed with the clarity and warmth considering the size of the mic's diaphragm. This mic sounded decent with EQ or reverb added to the vocals. I would recommend this mic to anyone looking for a low-cost, handheld condesor microphone for live performance or low budget home studios.

Shure Beta 57A - This Microphone Can't Be Beat!

"This microphone is simply amazing! It has so many applications. For my uses, I use it primarily to mic my 30 watt guitar amplifier. But I know that my drummer's planning on getting at least one for his snare and possibly more for his toms. It's used at times for vocals... This mic is the Leatherman of live sound! It's so versatile and can do just about anything. Every musician should own one of these miics. Also, this mic has superior gain before feedback and a tighter polar pattern than the old SM57. It also has a steeper presence peak if I am not mistaken. I should also mention that this mic has made feedback a thing of the past for my band. I was afraid that I would have trouble with feedback, but have had zero problems. I just put my amp behind me, mic it up, and let wail. It's simple, it's efficient, it's practical. This mic was well worth every penny I spent on it. It's so clear and real and natural. And I have almost infinite options with the sound, because it's sound changes reltaive to it's placement. -center of my speaker, this mic provides a sharp, aggressive attack. But after moving it merely 2.5"" down to the left, I found that I got a sweeter, smoother, more tailored response. It's crazy and it's fun, too! This mic was well worth my money and would be well worth yours, too. This microphone WILL NOT disappoint! Go for it!"

An excellent all around mic!

"I use this mic for lots of different live applications but I think it works best on a snare. It just gives it a nice, tight, crisp sound and preforms better than any other drum mic I've used. I also know that lots of studio professionals use it for the same appllication."
