An affordable microphone to record vocals in a reasonably quiet but untreated apartment the SM7 excels. I'm running it with a Cloudlifter into an RME FF400 and the results are excellent. Removed the supplied pop filter and bought one for $20 that hangs in front of the mic I'm get good breathy female vocal recordings up close. The room noise is virtually non-existent. Obviously a more sensitive mic would pick up more detail, especially in the top end, but the trade off for a very dry recording in the untreated bedroom with distant traffic and neighbours is well worth it. Would def buy again.
