I needed a personal microphone to mitigate the risk of being exposed to corona virus while preaching. I am having to evolve as the pandemic altered the way we do church.
Great mic. Had the Shure 58 for years. The Beta 87A works great in the studio and live performances.
AS A FRONT-OF-HOUSE ENGINEER, ONE OF MY BIGGEST FRUSTRATIONS IS A VOCALIST WHO "WORKS THE MIC". MOST VOCAL MICS LOSE ALL OF THEIR WARMTH WHEN YOU BACK OFF, AND/OR DISTORT WHEN YOU "EAT" THEM. NO MORE! THIS MIC SOUNDS AWESOME NO MATTER IF YOU'RE RIGHT ON TOP OF IT, OR A FOOT AWAY. I CAN'T GET A BAD SOUND OUT OF IT! THANK YOU, SHURE!
The BETA 87A is a special breed of condenser microphone. Sporting a highly consistent supercardioid pattern with null points at approx. 125 degrees. These null points mean you can get great isolation from other singers and instrumentalists, as well as from stage monitors. Do you handle the microphone a lot, and vary it's distance while singing? Well this mic is for you! With a low roll off proximity effect the BETA 87A allows you to get in close to the mic and not distort your voice with that boomy quality we often associate with closeness to a microphone. The BETA 87A has a vary wide dynamic range of pickup as well, up to 117 DB!
