The Shure Beta 58A dynamic microphone is the perfect, professional choice in a handheld dynamic microphone for male and female voices, young and mature, gentle or aggressive.
The Shure Beta 58A is the perfect, professional choice in a handheld dynamic microphone for male and female voices, young and mature, gentle or aggressive. Among the first things you’ll notice when using the Shure Beta 58a is its high, rich, clear output. It’s so high, as a matter of fact, that it’d be only natural to fear feedback or boominess. But alas, fear not. Its supercardioid pattern keeps your signal tight as a drum and pretty much eliminates any sounds coming from the sides or the rear. Super-high gain before feedback is what we’re talking about… a priceless feature when every single performance counts and on any given night it could be THE night!
The good folks at Shure were really thinking this through and designed the frequency response to add a little midrange lift, right in the middle of the vocal frequency spectrum. Bam! You can really hear it! Full and fabulous!
It’s got an internal shock-mount system, so handling noise is kept to a minimum, if heard at all. The rugged steel-mesh grille is internally lined with a foam pop filter so right out of the box you’re ready to roll (and rock, if you will).
Here’s a little discussed fact: Try the Shure Beta 58a with a quality preamp in a studio recording environment. It just may be the ticket to help your vocal or acoustic guitar sit perfectly in the mix, even better than some pricey condenser mics (though your mileage may vary).
Disclaimer: The Shure Beta 58a may very well be the very last handheld dynamic microphone you’ll need to purchase. There. We said it.

I own this mic, it's great for a live vocals. It has very little feedback, and allows vocalist to easily cut through the mix. This mic is like a super-sensitive SM 58

Great mic. Perfect for micing instruments in live shows.
I've been using the SM58 for a long time. I had a chance to use the Beta58 and I was very impressed. A few days later I bought 2. They sound fantasic on vocals.
