Samson got it right
I play in a wide variety of circumstances and also run live sound and do live recording for other groups. I maintain a variety of PA speakers that can cover different venues and circumstances. I really like the convenience of the various battery powered products and have owned several Samson and Behringer battery-powered PA systems. This one (the XP312 and the XP310) is the first to really get it right, IMHO. I bought the 312 as soon as it was available. I was immediately impressed with the sound quality and volume. It is rated at 300W, but sounds louder than I expected for 300W and has decent sound. It doesn't have the clarity or punch of a QSC, for example, but is really very good for live settings. The wireless systems packaged with this speaker are excellent. I think they compare very nicely with Shure SLX, and I have had absolutely no problems with choppy sound (as is common on the WiFi-spectrum products) The 312 is actually a bit larger than I expected. I like to keep one of these systems in my car all the time because they are so handy for rehearsals and unexpected situations. But I think the 312 is a little larger than I want to keep in the car. I bought a 310 today and it is considerably more compact, but still a good, loud sound and that great wireless system. That's the one I'll keep in my car. I'll use the 312 as a second speaker for those cases where I need a little more coverage or need to run a stereo mix (using a separate mixer.) I have a Samson XP800 system (not battery powered) that I no longer need, so I will sell that. Even though the XP800 is rated at higher watts, I think the combination of a 310 + 312 will be at least as loud as the XP800.
