I'm an old school kj, vj, and don't play any instruments thru my pa so I can only speak about music playback.. I have 2 unpowered Samson resound 12"HD pa cabinets that I struggle to power with clean amp headspace but I like the sound from theses cabinets and they have long throw horns and trapezoid wooden cabinets that allow the sound to expand carry outdoors very well .. so I purchased 2 of theses Samson active 12" pa speakers to help out in the close up spaces and fill in .. so these are not as loud or have the depth of the resound HD .. by design with the shorter horn and rectangle plastic cabinets but they do what I wanted them too. Using these for music playback I would like to be able to send a stereo signal to them but the input will only accept 1/4" mono or mic low z .. But my other pa speakers use the same 1/4" mono .. for what I do theses are perfect.. I use the volume knob on the back of the cabinet to match my others. they usually clip out about the time my others start to distort and by that time my audience is usually too drunk to notice.
