Picked up a Helix and needed a light weight LOUD FRFR speaker to keep up with a drummer who's goal is to break his sticks on every song. I am on a serious low budget...so I could not swing for a EV , QSC (or dedicated guitar FRFR). The manager at my local Sam Ash told me I needed to try this...nothing in the store had a better sound to value ratio. Boy was he right! PLENTY loud...not super bass heavy and does a great job of replicating the various Helix amp models parallel with some much better gig Pa speakers. After purchase I was able to side by side with a headrush 12 (alto 212) a Mackie 12a and a line 6 powercab (friends jam). About the only thing that sounded better imo was the powercab (slightly). The problem was the powercab was not nearly as loud. The Mackie was too bass heavy and the alto sounded like there was a blanket over the speaker compared to the Sampson. Friends were impressed and shocked that a speaker not really known for its frfr abilities...could sound so good . If they made a 10" I would pick up another one. Go try this speaker!
