Ready to Play on Demand

I got these plastic coated reeds (2.5 strength) about 3 weeks ago and am really surprised by their performance. I have always used standard Rico reeds before. I always assumed that all reeds had to be wetted and warmed up to achieve the desired performance before playing - not so with these. These reeds are always ready. I switch between playing keyboard and tenor sax and when I pick the up the sax it's always ready to play. No re-wetting required. I admit that I don't completely understand the science of why these plastic coated reeds have this added feature (always ready to play) but I think they are great. I am glad that I tried them.

Have used for many years

I have used these reeds on alto, tenor and bari for 30 or more years. Never use them for concert music. You need to order several boxes at a time since some play well and some do not. Just like a cane reed. These reeds will produce more volume and more edge (brighter tone) for the rock gigs. I have tried synthetic reeds but have not found one that gives that extra bit of grit to the tone. For best results use them with a m//p that has a fairly high baffle and a mic that has a large voice coil so you can back away about a foot and still fill the stage with a full sound.
