Sounds GREAT unplugged AND plugged in. Really good, clean bottom end from such a small box. Stays in tune, up & down the neck, with and w/o a capo, for days on end sometimes. Fishman preamp is sophisticated but user friendly, very fast to get where you want to go. No wood surfaces & uncanny light weight take some getting used to, but if you let your ears be the judge, this guitar sort of embarrasses a lot of more famous (and more expensive) competitors. I had never heard of Rainsong when i started shopping, but I ended up owning one because it sounded better than everything else I tried. The fact that it doesn't mind the weather or spending all day every day on a nearby guitar stand (so you can pick it up and play it every time you walk by) is just an added bonus. I'm primarily a bare hands, finger style player w/short nails, and this guitar loves that. It has no pick guard, so flat pickers will need to grab an after market, static cling vinyl guard. Nothing really wrong w/the case btw, just sort of typical considering how unusual & special the guitar is.
