As a musician who has owned and played MANY guitars, PRS, simply put, blows all other brands out of the water. (Are other guitar brands good or great? Sure, sometimes.) Here's the thing. The quality control is excellent, the craftsmanship on every instrument (regardless of price point) is exceptional, and the instruments themselves are first rate. The nice thing with PRS is that you don't just get what you pay for, you get FAR more. Their entry-level instruments, such as this one, while more expensive, are perfect for any beginner or intermediate player, or anyone looking for something exciting and new. The SE Custom 24 has budget "S" versions of their 85/15 pickups with a push-pull for coil splitting action. These pickups are great for any genre because they are SO CLEAR. The clarity allows you to do anything from straight clean to overly saturated metal with no loss of definition or musicianship. The neck is FAST and looks so good. The cutouts are comfy as all get out, and this instrument looks beautiful (I purchased the Sapphire). While coming in at an intermediate price, this thing gives any $1k-1.5k guitar a serious run for its money. Just buy the thing already.
