Guitarist of over 23 years. Style: mostly metal. Above 25% volume sound begins to get muddy and distorted. The Power Sponge feature is really cool for getting a specific volume while family is sleeping or you want it just a bit louder/quieter but can't get there with the main volume knob. There is no 1/4 out for recording so you'll have to use adapters or the USB port (cable not included). The amp modules have a nice sound and the effects sound good as well. I haven't messed with the bass or seven-string or baritone emulators yet. My biggest problem with this amp is the Looper, one of the reasons I bought this amp specifically. It is awful. The loop repeat is never smooth, there is always a click or void. The loop itself doesn't initiate until you release the button rather than when it is first compressed. This is absolutely infuriating to me. Trying to get a loop to repeat successfully with time is almost a matter of luck not precision or skill. As a life long Peavey fan, it pains me to say that for the price you could probably find a better amp than this.
