Great little amp head

I have a hard enough time playing a radio. This 6505 mh is actually helping me to be a better guitar player.

Versatile 1 5 20 watt Amp driving 8 or 16 ohm spkr cabinets

20 watts my favorite, 20 5 1 watt settings, nice EL84 voicing (rock blues), both channels useful now after a couple of days experiments. The clean channel is amazing! Surprise. Look forward to recording with this amp.

As good as the original 6505

High gain two channel amp, great for the home, studio or gigging.

Absolutely love this amp

I love this amp, it gets the full 5150/6505 tone at even the lowest settings. Surprisingly loud which is never a bad thing.

I'm a Believer! 6505 for Life!

Picked up this little guy after reading many reviews, and watching a TON of video reviews...and I'm glad I did. I'm coming from a 100w Randall Diavlo - which is a beast of an amp...the 6505MH has stolen my heart. I have never played an amp so responsive to my playing, and so versatile - it really is no wonder why a lot of players choose this amp. I have found a setting I LOVE on every channel - the LEAD channel is usually the reason you snag an amp like this, and it is great - but the CRUNCH channel also lends a hand to some br00tality, as well - and forget the negativity surrounding the CLEAN - it is pure and almost twangy, especially if you are rocking single coils or a coil tap option. The direct output is better than most amps that offer a similar option (MSDI, I believe) - and sounds great running direct into a PA - with or without the speaker on - I haven't used the built in attenuator, as I do not need to change any settings with this, but no doubt, they work great! (No overheating issues, either!) Footswitch works well for changing the channels and turning on the crunch w/ clean channel. Forget what folks say about the lack of low end, also - the RESONANCE knob really helps dial in where the low-end is lacking - and the PRESENCE knob doesn't take but a tweak to bring out the highs. Overall, this is one of the, if not the best, purchase(s) I've ever made in regards to my sound. I'm a tone-chaser, and while the likes of the 100w Diavlo got me close, the itty bitty 20w 6505MH helped me achieve the money-shot! I've played on the bigger 6505's, and LOVE them, but feel that the sound and versatility you get for the price of the MH, you absolutely cannot go wrong! 20w may not seem like it would be that loud, but I assure you, it is LOUD! Sounds great with V30's! I LOVE LOVE LOVE this amp, and will forever be loyal to Peavey! Try one - you will buy it - I can almost guarantee it! Thanks Sam Ash!

Pleasantly Surprised

I just recently picked up this little guy at my Local Sam Ash, and I have to say that I was blown away by it when I first tried it out. I tested it against a couple other reputable heads to get a feel for where it falls in the spectrum and I've got to say that this head could easily be worth another $200-$300. It produces great cleans and has Footswitchable built -in crunch if you really want some chunky rhythms. The real money maker, however, is the lead channel. While turning the pre-gain you go from subtle overdrive, to AC/DC-ish rock, to Heavy Metal and beyond! All while not destroying your guitars tone. I've found that right around 1 o'clock (or 6 on the knob indicator) seems to produce a really nice heavy sound. This guy also comes with a couple of nice features, especially for those looking to be quieter while playing. The Power Attenuator lets this head go from a VERY LOUD 20 watts to a bedroom safe 1 watt, really letting you crank up the tubes and still get some nice warm tones while still being quiet. The Headphone jack and Speaker defeat on the back are godsends as I always seem to get inspiration late at night and I can now plug some headphones in and not have my girlfriend coming at me with a knife! The MSDI as well is also a useful tool as I can record straight to my DAW without having to setup my actual DI as well. Overall, this head blew me out of the water in terms of expectations. It's pleasantly loud enough to use with my band and has an adequate number of features to qualify it as a must-have head in my opinion.
