Based on the classic 1990s Novation Bass Station synth, the Novation Bass Station II combines traditional analogue waveform generation and processing with the power and flexibility of digital control, plus a set of effects and presets for the 21st century. The Bass Station II may be used as a standalone synthesizer, or with MIDI connections to/ from other sound modules or keyboards. It may also be connected - via its USB port – to a computer (Windows or Mac). The USB connection can supply power to the synth, transfer MIDI data to/from a MIDI sequencer application and allow Patches to be saved to memory.

Paraphonic Mode
Bass Station II is now a paraphonic monosynth, because the pitches of each of the two oscillators can be controlled separately in its single-voice architecture. Two notes can be played at a time rather than just one, and users can get interesting interactions through the Ring and Filter Mod.

Filter Tracking
Filter tracking was one of the most requested features. The filter includes variable keyboard tracking in Bass Station II v2.5 – the best for matching higher notes to increased brightness.

Envelope Retriggering
Bass Station II's secret sound-design weapon is envelope retriggering. It's now possible to configure envelopes to retrigger once the decay stage has ended, opening up a whole range of possibilities.

Oscillator Error
Oscillator error introduces a small and adjustable random detune on each note-on event. This can be used to generate some very beautiful, subtle (or not) musical dissonance, very much in the same way that vintage synths do (because of the looser tolerance of their electronic components). Paraphonic mode makes it as dramatic as possible.

Microtuning Editing
The frequency triggered by each key press can be completely controlled, giving scales another dimension.

State-of-the Art Presets
Their are two sound-packs: Silver and Sinevibes. Silver's presets explore the v2.5 features and inspire tracks and sound design. Sinevibes, designed by Sinevibes' founder Artemij Pavlov, gives 101 classic Bass Station II presets.

Warm Greetings
Bass Station II can now support a custom message display at start-up.

Analog deliciousness

I've been using a novation kstation as one my main go-to synthesizers for well over 15 years and have been a novation fan ever since. No doubt this expands on all those charms and offers all the joys of pure analog juiciness, ease of use, and financial access. If you're specifically looking for a real analog machine and know what that means then also know that this synth will have you covered. I've owned more expensive gear that couldn't produce the bass richness that I can get from this. It's quite amazing this thing gets put in the budget category, because you don't normally associate economy with high end performance. Despite the plastic build, I'm hard-pressed to find reasons to downvote this keyboard. The keybed feels firm, knobs are solid, and toggles don't wiggle around. If I really had to suggest edits for future versions, I don't like the the lcd placement. While playing with my right hand and turning knobs, it's pretty easy to cover over the screen. The other thing is there are only push buttons to scroll through patches and set parameters. A scrolling dial or numerical keypad would make this go faster. Still these are very minor qualms. Overall, I'd have to say this is one of the best all plastic boards I've played. Sort of reminds me of a Roland jp8000 in that sense.

love my Bass Station II Analog Synthesizer

love it thanks sam ash direct

Extremely happy customer!

I thought I would like the Bass Station II from all the reviews about it. Then I got it... and now I'm completely obsessed with it! It's everything I wanted, and the variety of sounds you can get out of it, especially with the firmware update, is insane. I have already used it in two tracks, and I know it's definitely going to be a go-to for future tracks. Highly recommend this to anyone, from beginner to experienced. Also, I was hesitant to buy something like this used, but when it arrived it was in flawless condition. It seems like Sam Ash has a great quality control and cares about the condition of the products they sell, new or used. It's relieving to know that the gear will be in good condition when buying it used from Sam Ash.

Heavy Hitter

Novation Bass Station ll is a heavy hitter and an open highway of possibilities. True analog impact and a lot more.

This Keyboard is FANTASTIC!!! It's such a Great Keyboard that, sometimes you'll forget That it's not Polyphonic!!! Portable, Easy to use, Comparably Priced, NOT HEAVY, and Compact!!! When you gave a Load of Gear to carry at the end of the Night, THIS IS WHAT YOU NEED!!!
