The new LP1 Flute Lip Plate Patches from Protec come in packs of 12, and are a great and inexpensive way to protect the finish and plating on your delicate instrument. The patch provides grip for where the flute is in contact with your lower lip while playing for better comfort and precision. It also prevents direct skin contact on the lip plate, which otherwise may speed up the wearing of platings and laquers on metal instruments due to acids and oils naturally in your skin. The patches are non-fraying and each package contains 12.

This is just what any player allergic to nickel or silver needs. More than once have I seen students playing with masking tape/clear tape on their lip plates to avoid green patches on the chins or hives from allergic reaction to the nickel or silver. These are excellent sure cures that will not quickly peel or flake off your flute. Tape will damage the finish on the lip but these will grip without leaving residue.
