MOOG's release of the DFAM (Drummer From Another Mother) has changed my life! At least, how I approach synthesis and drum sequencing. The DFAM is a 2 VCO analog synth with no notable unique components at first glance. The magic comes from how these components are ordered and triggered in the DFAM. Each VCO has a dedicated envelope generator (so does the filter), with control over the EG decay. Basically this means you can get some nasty sounding kick drum sounds reminiscent of the 808 and 909, but with even more beef and punch. Both VCO's are independently tunable from 20-20k, and you have an 8 step sequencer controlling velocity and pitch. I can't even get into everything this piece has to offer, you simply have to try it for yourself. The options are endless, especially with the patch bay. This is a fantastic machine.
