Can't Use it with Garageband

I intended to use this with my iPad Garageband app, but with it plugged in, headphones don't work. Either they override the the headphone mic, or the headphone mic overrides this condenser mic, depending on the order you plug them into the iPad. So, if I want to play over a drum track, I can't hear the drums. I'll use it for recording with the voice memo app, or when filming a performance. A little disappointed that I haven't found a way to use it with Garageband. The sound is decent.
