The WA-84 is a cardioid, vintage-style, small diaphragm condenser microphone based on classic microphone circuit topology. The WA-84 sports a fully discrete signal path, a CineMag USA transformer, Fairchild transistors, and Wima capacitors. The WA-84 is designed for pro studio, home studio, live, and broadcast applications, and sounds great on a variety of instruments and sources, such as; acoustic/electric guitars, acoustic/electric bass, drums, piano, strings, brass and woodwind instruments, and an array of other sources.

Large-Core Cinemag USA Transformer
Small diaphragm condenser microphones have widely moved to transformer-less technology in recent years for ease and lower-cost manufacturing. When designing the WA-84, however, Warm chose to go the extra mile by using a large-core transformer. The WA-84 has a very large sound for its small size due to the heavy Nickel CineMag transformer in its signal path, which warms up and enlarges sound sources. The transformer is so big it barely fits inside the mic body!

Premium Components
In addition to the CineMag USA transformer, the WA-84 also sports a fully discrete signal path using premium Fairchild transistors and Wima capacitors throughout.

Small microphone body with a large and warm sound!

The WA-84 is a small diaphragm condenser microphone. They come in a small body like their vintage counterparts, but they have a large sound. With their polar cardioide and their pad -10dB, you can use this mics in any instrument. They are ideal for drums overhead because they capture the cymbals with in a lively and warm manner. I love how they sound in the hi-hat, acoustic guitar, acoustic piano, violin, violas, and cellos. When using these mics with acoustic instruments in the studio, I combine them with room mics (in my case, I use the WA-47JRs or WA-87s). This is a perfect combination to capture the natural sound from those instruments. The results are astonishing. We are loving our WA-84s.
