I'll start by saying MK Guitars are one of the best values available. I grabbed this Custom Element 5-string when it was on sale for $499, and I could not be happier. The action needed adjusting (expected), but now the strings sit at a blazing 1mm from the frets with minimal buzz. The tuners are Grover minis, and do the job just fine. The bridge is a Sung Il with MK's proprietary "Stealth" feature, which adds a noticable punch. Pickups are Rockfields, which bear a curious resemblance to BassMod's Big Fatties, and sound just as good in passive mode. The only weak point on this bass is the preamp. It really provides no positive color to the tone, so I chose to remove the batteries, and the bypass switch now serves as a mute switch. I've played for nearly 35 years, and this bass easily trumps any US Fender that I've played. Additionally, MK customer service is second to none.
