The Michael Kelly 1953 electric guitar is truly a more traditionally built model. The vintage specs are incredible while making use of the Quad mod to further increase the fun of this guitar. Furthermore, the modern appointments on this guitar are a great addition to really drive it home with the high-quality aspects this guitar has. Whether you're a beginner, serious player, or even a collector, this is an incredible piece of equipment to have that really screams vintage and traditional and feels amazing.

Vintage Specs
The different types of tonal woods used on this guitar make up for a vintage, and traditional style piece. The body is of alder topped with a flame maple top and alder binding. The neck complements the body with a maple neck as well as a rosewood fingerboard. Resonance is key when it comes to this guitar and you will get a lot of high frequency range for the smacking tone we all know and love from vintage-style guitars.

Quad Mod
With the power of the Quad mod, you are given the power of a 4th pickup setting which turns both of your neck and bridge pickups on and makes your single-coil pickups sound almost identical to that of a humbucker. Due to the fact that your single-coil pickups are in two separate parts of the body, it gives you a very unique sound from that positioning.

Modern Appointments
As previously mentioned before, the Quad mod is a modern take on vintage-style. In addition to the Quad mod, the Michael Kelly 1953 is blessed with Rockfield TexPlus single-coil pickups which gives you just the right amount of vintage tone while giving it the modern sound it needs. The Michael Kelly 1953 doesn't stray far from traditional specs, but when it comes to comfort and playability, the modern "C" style neck profile gives you some of the best feeling in the world when it comes to playing a guitar up and down the neck.

Great value and beautiful look and sound

The 53 tele is beautiful in the caramel color that I bought. I would give this 5 star, but the fretwork is a little rough on some of both top and bottom edges. The setup on the guitar was almost perfect from the dealer; no adjustments so far. There was a slight imperfection in the top coat finish, but not noticeable unless pointed out specifically. I worked with customer Sam Ash support to get a credit back to my satisfaction. The sound of the guitar on the neck and bridge pickups is very good; when both pickups in action, less so. Overall, very pleased with my purchase. Very good value for the money

Obviously, I bought this again and again

I bought the Carmel Burst over a year ago. The quality for the price is great. Michael Kelly ran this on sale and I had to get the Blue Jean finish.

Not my cup of tea.

Ordered online, I didn't care for it. The flame maple top looked more like a decal under the lacquer, and it was exceptionally heavy. The guys at Sam Ash were great and the return went flawlessly.

Great spin on a classic design

These are one of my favorite import tele-style options. The attention to detail and craftsmanship on this model is top notch. The 4 mod adds a lot of tonal variability and punch that makes this guitar and excellent value. Neck profile and body contours make this a very comfortable guitar to play for long periods. I have another one that was from when they were still manufactured in Korea, and the finishing of the fret edges was better on that one, but it's a simple fix to dress them to my liking (it's dry now, a good time to do it) and it's usually needed on bolt-on imports. All in all, one of my favorite tele style guitars I own.

Awesome Guitar!

Great tone, especially with the extra position on the 4-way switch. Wanted a tele, but the Michael Kelly brand seems so much more "bang for your buck" than Fender.

Okay with some work.

With some work to the guitar it probably would be fine. The bridge pickup sounded good.

What a great guitar

Bought this guitar in caramel burst. After taking it out of the box the top on this guitar is beautiful. The strings needed lowered a a bit but wow what a killer guitar for the money. The guitar sounds really good. The stacked single coil in the bridge sounds smoking and no buzz. So much better a guitar than lets say a mexican guitar from another company. There are reviews of this guitar on u tube. Check them. I like it so much I ordered a 2nd one in Blue Jean Wash.
