This book should have been titled Advanced Rock Bass due to the lack of theory which would have aide beginner bassist with deeper understanding of how to make use of the musical ideas. There are some theory rhetoric (concise instructions), but it appears the author is targeting someone who has some musical background. However, if you do have some musical background (knowing scales and chords constructions, some harmony, arpeggios and such), then this is a great book to start with for unlocking your own creative potential. The examples aren't difficult. You can learn them by day and incorporate them by night. Lots of practice for different technical items, but especially for fluency. The examples are in TAB and music notations and can be heard on the CD. I am giving this book 4 Stars because it does what it set out to do which is teach to present some musical ideas that can help you with understanding how to play in different styles and how to create your own groove. I always leave out one star for room to approve. ha!
