I recently purchased a Tama Imperialstar kit from my local Sam Ash store. I must say way better drum department than GC. The kit came with this set of Meinl cymbals including the 10" splash. I of course imagined that they would be comparable to Zigjian Planet Z or Sabian B8 Pro cymbals. I figured that I probably would just sell them or whatever since I have a set of Sabian AAX/HHX already. Well I set the kit up when I got home with this set of cymbals WOW I was impressed. Now I'm not going to tell you that there just as good as cymbals which cost way more but they are not your typical entry level cymbal. First off their alloy is brass not bronze so they are loud. They are made in Germany and each cymbal has the factory which produced it stamped on the cymbal. They are sheet cymbals of course but they are hammered and lathed for a better sound. The ride is really great it doesn't wash out and it has a nice ping to it. The bell is nice and loud and cuts through. The hi-hats give you a nice swoosh when opening and closing and when closed they sound like any other hi-hats. The crash sounds a little bit like a gong and if you have a light hand on it like you are playing jazz it's not loud enough. So with that being said you really after to crash it. Then it sounds ok. I like the splash a lot and just overall this is a quality product. I liked them so much that I ordered a 18" to go with the set. I do use them to play out with and I have to say that there good especially at this price. To sum it up I don't think that Zildjian, Sabian or Paiste can come close to this quality and sound when it comes to this price in sheet cymbals.
