Some people have said this is Martin's attempt to imitate a Gibson J-45 and I think that's pretty accurate, although it has more of the Martin resonance than either of the J-45's I've owned. With a matte finish (which no one will be neutral about) it is very, very light. The sound is "woody" as you would expect from a mahogany guitar compared to rosewood; probably better for strumming than finger-style unless you're a blues player. The action was a bit high but I had my regular guitar tech fix that and also install a Baggs Lyric pick-up and it sounds great amplified. Didn't care for the Martin Retro strings it came with and changed those to lt.gauge phos. bronze, big improvement. Overall, a nice instrument.
