Great Guitar - have had it for 20 years

This is a great guitar. Love the overall tone, resonance, etc.. of it. If you like to play the whole neck and want quality in the lower note strings as well as higher strings, get a Martin, PERIOD. The day I bought this, I literally played EVERY guitar on the wall at the music store. Only CON (and it's not a negative really) but to me the Martins are a little harder to play in terms of the neck than say Takamine or even some of the Taylors but those guitars do not come close to the overall tonal quality of a Martin. Play it every day, develop those callusus (sp?), take it to a great set up place and you will be fine. Enjoy

This product was better than I expected. Wonderful sound.

Great Martin woody tone, nice projection and sustain.

Nice buy

I'm a newer player so take my opinion only with a small grain of salt. I have had a Fender acoustic and a very nice Yamaha. I kept upgrading to reach what I have now, a Martin D16-GT. I tried several Martins and Taylors at my local Sam Ash, before deciding on this baby. I LOVE it. The best service guy on the planet(Raleigh, NC location)put on new strings and man, this puppy sang! Its light and really resonates. Its somewhat affordable, for a Martin, and if I had to find ANY negative about it, I would say that it seems to be very large. Again, Im newer (10 mo) so what the heck do I know? It just feels a little big.It plays smooth and Im very happy with my purchase. The hardshell case that comes with it makes it even more appealing!

Good choice

I knew I wanted a Martin. I played several at a few local guitar shops and had to stay within a certain budget. I was going to have to "settle" on a D-1 which, at my level would have been wonderful, when I tried this one on for size. It felt great. Played smooth and was light. After playing it for awhile, I decided to buy it. The great salesman that helped me, threw on some some new strings at the store and once they were on, this thing played loouud. It screamed out to me,"I have an owner! I'm going home!" Its a beautiful instrument, and comes with a nice Martin hardshell case. I'm currently on my first roadtrip with it and am super happy with my choice to buy it.

First Martin, best guitar I own to play

I bought this because I wanted a Martin. I have a Brredlove and a 73 Hummingbird but this guitar plays so easy. I am not a proffesional musician but I can pick up this guitar and play anything easier for some reason than my other guitars. It stays in tune, the only time I have to tune it is string changes and when I go a half step down. Martin quality so.say no more on that. The problem for some on this is the Micarta fretboard but I like it and wonder if it isn't the main reason it is easier to play. I don't know but I would think maintenance would be less for it. For the price, especially with the hard case you can't beat this made in the USA Martin.

Wow, only [$]. Amazing !

Im 50 years old. started playing when I was 10. Im not an expert . I played in bands , groups, school funtions, and a lot of fun stuff. I never had a true legendary guitar in an acoustic model. My fingers are now a bit arthritic and have some issues. Now I said its time to get a great guitar. This Martin is AMAZING ! It plays like a dream. Easy smooth action, thats fast yet the sound is spectacular. This sounds and feels like your playing any other $4000 Martin.

Great Solid Woods Guitar

At [$], you get an all solid woods, great sounding made in the USA Martin. In the $1000 range it has no equal. Just get rid of those Martin Lifespan strings and put on D'Addarios 12, uncoated. Improves the tone add more dimension to the highs. Since I have an acoustic amp, the great people at Sam Ash's fantastic Huntington, L.I. store suggested that I get the DiMarzio Virtual Acoustic soundhole pickup, which for about $65 has turned this guitar into an acoustic electric. Believe me it still has incredible projection unplugged. Through my Fishman Loudbox, I'd put it up against guitars costing 3x as much. Do yourself a favor, if you are looking for an acoustic guitar, play this one. you won't be able to put it down,
