Introduced at Nashville NAMM 2019, the D-16E ushers in a generation of 16 Series guitars that combine styling, performance and value. The guitar features a solid wood construction; a Sitka spruce top and solid rosewood back and sides. The D-16E is a 14 fret dreadnought body shape with 000 depth. Other appointments include forward shifted X scalloped X bracing, a High Performance neck and antique white binding. Fishman Matrix VT Enhance electronics come standard for superior plugged-in tone. This guitar is perfect for the performing musician who is looking for traditional styling and modern playability at an affordable price.

Solid Wood Construction
Solid wood construction is a sought-after feature in guitars of high quality and the D-16E offers a solid Sitka spruce top and solid East Indian back and sides. Rosewood is known for a its deep rich bass response and is complemented by the brilliant highs produced by Sitka spruce.

Dreadnought Body Shape with 000 Depth
A relatively new spin on the 14 fret dreadnought, the D16-E features a thinner 000 depth, ideal for a player desiring a dreadnought but wanting a more modern slimmer feel. The High Performance neck adds to this extremely comfortable guitar without sacrificing tone.

Fishman Matrix VT Enhance Electronics
The 16 Series guitars come equipped with Fishman's Matrix VT Enhance electronics. The package features the volume and tone controls (VT) in the upper part of the sound hole while the Enhance control is located in the lower part of the sound hole. The 1/4" jack and end pin are separated as to protect the integrity of the 1/4" connection. The batter box is located in the end block so replacements do not require removal of strings.

Martin Perfection!

This is a BEAUTIFUL American-made guitar!! I've been playing a Martin DRS 1 for 4 years but was never satisfied after playing a Martin DC16 GTE for 23 years. Moved to Arizona and the "dry heat" killed that guitar. Saw this D16E on the wall at Sam Ash, played it, had to have it! The D-16E body is a OOO depth but with a beautiful dreadnought sound. Good, full mellow lower - "joyful" upper sound. I own a '73 Martin D-18. These 2 guitars are "Brothers" for sure. Light weight. Battery is conveniently located in the tail end with the guitar strap pin/peg. Gonna' cost you a bunch of pennies but worth every cent! I am thrilled I found this style guitar.

Finally Got A Martin

I buy a new acoustic only evry ten years. Last one was a Breedlove that I spent $1000 on. I set a $2000 budget and started the intense shopping process. If your reading this review you know what I mean. I've always wanted a Martin but I did my due diligence and played everything out there I could lay my hands on. The Taylors are nice but sometimes I would pick up a $3000 714 and didn't sound as good as a $1200 214? I narrowed it down to the D16E, GPC 16E or the OM Cherry. Went to Sam Ash in Hollywood since they had all three models in store. No pressure chill sales guy pulled 'em down and 30 minutes later I was walking out with the D16e. IAt first I had a bit of buyers remorse. "Did I settle for less just cuase I wanted the Martin name?" But every day the guitar got better and better. Sometimes my son and I just sit around and stare at it and talk about it like it's a person. There are 12 guitars in my house now. I was going to sell the Breedlove but it's a person now too and you can't sell people. I don't remember the chill dudes name at Sam Ash but thanks.

Thousand Oaks, CA

I would buy this and recommend for all types of skill levels

D 16E - this guitar is a lil gem. I was first intrigued by how thin it was. I I have a few martins that are thicker, and at first I thought..hmmmm.. but you must remember that an American Martin packs a heavy punch no matter what size. It's thin, easy to sit or stand with and play. The neck is smooth, frets Comfortable. The hallmark of a well made Guitar is how well it stays in tune. I don't care how much money you spend on it. This guitar hardly goes out of tune, unless you are traveling, and the climate dramatically changes. Changing the strings was fast and smooth. Fisherman pickups are amazing and really give the guitar a voice, if plugging in is your thing. One thing i would say about the wood is that it's sensitive. I put a few nail marks on the neck and that was a first for me. All around great guitar. : ) it's the first thing I play when I wake up and have it on the stand nearby at all times. It's also super light weight, but do not let that scare you away from thinking it doesn't have a great sound. Rich and deep, what Marin says about it is spot on. The top is gloss and the rest is beautiful wood. There is nothing fancy about it, it sounds great, and does look aesthetically pleasing to the eye.

Good guitar ,nice martin sound ,very punchy projection due to more shallow body depth. Much different sound than my taylor 214 .Nice to have a quality martin guitar. May trade in though before 45 day to get another martin more suited to fingerstyle playing and less bass tonally.
