Armed with 2 totally independent, footswitchable channels; 6 footswitchable modes; studio quality Digital Reverb; 2 switchable Master Volumes; 2 FX loops; MIDI switching capability; a programmable, 4-way footswitch (supplied) and switching memory; this all-tube (5 x 12AX7, 2 x EL34) JVM205H 50-watt head is truly a force to be reckoned with. From rich, 3-D cleans to beyond-extreme overdrives, the JVM205H does it all...and then some. In addition to being incredibly versatile (it’s effectively 6 Marshalls in 1), like all its JVM family members, this head has more gain than any Marshall that’s gone before!

Meet your new favorite clean channel.

Ahh ... Marshall Amplification. That famous "Marshall bark". A British-voiced lead channel that scares grannies and makes 12-year-olds say "Duuuuuude." The JVM 205H gives you that. Of course it does. It's a Marshall tube amp. You can thrash along to your old Death Angel records. You can get groovy with Jimi if you want to or jangle along to the Who. You can smash skateboards with NoFx. It does all that just fine. But the clean channel. That's something else entirely. I've played Fenders. I've played Rolands. You can keep them. This is my clean tone. Just by dialing in the amp (pro tip: roll off the bass knob a bit) and playing with my Peavey Wolfgang's tone knob, I can go from ska spank to smooth, sultry jazz. It's really sexy. I can't accurately describe the clean channel and keep this family-friendly. Plenty of headroom but it sounds best with a little breakup. I run this through a Randall 2x12 and have taken it to small clubs and big indoor stages and it always cuts through the mix. Only complaints: the knobs feel a little cheap, but I haven't had any issues with them yet; the direct line-out doesn't impress. It's also pretty heavy, but then again, it's a tube head so you kind of expect that. Otherwise, nice features, useful footswitch. Simple and flexible. Best amp I've ever played.

No frills, just tone for days.

Just started bringing this out to shows, running it through a 2x12 cab. The clean channel sounds like the heavens are opening and a chorus of angels is singing for the eternal glory of rock. Perfectly balanced with just enough of that mid-frequency breakup. The lead channels never really hit "castration" but you can get pretty close. Roll off the high EQ knob and control the top end with the presence control instead. It's pretty remarkable how many different sounds one can discover without the use of any digital trickery or whatnot on this thing. Only real complaint is the knobs feel cheap and plasticky, but haven't broken on me or anything.
