This amp really gives you some bang for your buck. Built with the same classic Marshall craftsmanship that has made the brand world renowned, this amp features dual gain channel power and intricate tonal shaping. For the player that needs a diverse, powerful combo amp with awesomely customizable sound.

Classic Marshall Craftsmanship
The Marshall DSL40CR puts out 40-watts of tube power thru a 12” Celestion V-type speaker. This combo houses dual EL34 power tubes, paired with 4 ECC83 pre-amp tubes. Combined, they give this amp that classic, crowd-pleasing Marshall sound. The DSL40CR has five speaker outlets allowing you to pair it with external speakers and blast. It can also be used to record, sporting a standby function for silent recording.

Dual Gain Channel Power
With its dual channels, "Ultra Gain" and "Classic Gain," the Marshall DSL40CR has a wide variety of tones, from a nice clean to an extreme distortion. Switching between them is quick and easy, thanks to the included footswitch. Each channel on the Marshall DSL40CR features its own designated volume and gain controls for fast and simple tonal adjustments on each individual channel. The onboard EQ features Bass, Mid, Treble, and Presence controls to tailor your tone to perfection, plus a built-in, Reverb with "Classic" and "Ultra" shaping knobs. The DSL40CR even has two master volumes, so you can kick it up when you need your solo to stand out.

Intricate Tonal Shaping
The DSL40CR also features an attenuator switch which enables you to shift from 40-watts to 20-watts, to accommodate your needs. Whether you need a little less power in a studio session or full-on power for live performances, the attenuator has you covered. For advanced tonal shaping, the DSL40CR includes a Tone Shift to scoop your mid-range, which is useful for those extremely heavy riffs. It also has a Deep switch to give you with the classic bottom-end, thanks to the DSL amplifiers. As if that weren't enough, the DSL40CR also has an FX Loop and a Midi, to create endless varieties of sounds with your external pedals and midi controllers.

Classic quality, packs a punch

Where to begin? All the fun of one of the big ones with the same quality (and you can switch out the speakers) with an output that can be tailored to a Manhattan bedroom. This is gonna be great for smaller gigs, has made me excited to preform post COVID, and really reminded me why I went with Marshall in the first place. There are 3 different levels of distortion, clean, an FX pedal hookup, and a switch to augment the tones pre-amp. The FX cable actually is long which is really nice for a smaller gig with weird spaces or a looper on a bench being a degenerate somewhere. It's worth every penny from my perspective.

Monster Tone!

I recently got this amp in hopes of finally upgrading from my previous practice amp after years of playing guitar. After doing some research, and testing this amp out in person, I finally decided to make the purchase. Boy let me tell you it truly did not disappoint. The massive 12" Celestion V speaker sounds so rich and roomy, even at low volumes with the 20-Watt mode. And when this baby is turned up, the tone is not only LOUD. but it is still sharp and clear, no clipping or unintended distortion. My favorite part is its versatility in tones. With many amps, one basically has to choose if they want an amp that specializes in a clean tone, a dirty tone, a heavy tone, or a fuzz tone. Usually requiring to purchase multiple amps for different tones. This Marshall can do all those really well! And having 2 independent channels with independent volume controls allows one to switch between two very different tones live with the included foot-switch, which has a very sturdy feel to it. If you are someone who is looking to step up from a practice amp like I was, this amp is definitely the way to go! Highly recommended! Even the beginner guitars I've played through this sound great, and it only gets better with higher end guitars.

Superior quality combo tube amp.

This is a wonderful amp. I use it in my home studio. The volume is certainly ample, probably more than I need. I play a 1963 Guild hollow body single pickup electric, and between the two of them, the sound is exactly what you would expect from a guitar of that vintage with a high quality tube amp. I am very happy with the purchase, and Sam Ash provided superior customer service. I even got a few bucks off for Memorial Day. Overall, I hit a home run with the decision to purchase this combo amp.

My First Marshall Amp

Always wanted a Marshall, especially a tube amp. Absolutely enjoy the crisp sound both on the clear and overdrive channels. All I need is a few effects pedals to really wake up this beast of a combo amp!

The Marshall DSL40CR kicks out the jamz!

Great value, and a great valve amp that is super-versatile! We're using our's in a stereo & wet/dry set-up, and it has tons of tonal options and pairs well with any pedals. Having previously owned a Marshall DSL100H, I knew the DSL40CR would be quality. The dual channel allows a great pallet of tones, from clean to heavy riffage, and the on-board reverb does not disappoint! A great value and great amp for any style player for < $1K!

Almost perfect but still needs some polishing

I have owned the amp for a few weeks now and played it extensively. I love the tone of this amp, in fact the tone is 5 stars (also the drive)! However, there are a few things that bug me about this amp. First the midi control options almost work as specified. The amp changes channels (and sub channels) as expected with program change commands but for some reason Marshall decided to use control change commands to toggle (not select) the master volume or the fx loop. Toggling means that you cannot guarantee a controller pedal will send only one command when you press the button with your foot and therefore you end up toggling multiple times in a single push of a button causing the master volume or fx loop to be in an unpredictable state. It takes multiple attempted presses to eventually get the state you desire from your amp when using a midi foot controller. Next, and very annoyingly, the amp mutes the audio in between changing amp channels (and sub channels). This happens using: the provided foot controller, the buttons on the amp, and a midi controller so it is clear that it is a design choice but it is very obvious and lasts about a quarter of a second. Finally, I don't get the point of the 2 master voulmes and 2 channel volumes. If you have 4 volume knobs on the amp then why not just make one for each subchannel rather than sharing 1 of 2 master volumes and a single channel Volume? One last word of caution (not a complaint) is that the ultra channel (od1/od2) clearly has a compressor built in before the preamp. I don't mind it so much but it does take away the ability to play dynamically. Overall I love the amp and will be keeping it for jamming at home BUT my TSL100 will remain my gigging amp.
