Not for the faint of heart, QSC makes no apologies for their “take-no-prisoners” KW153 active loudspeakers. These active, 3-way boxes are designed from the ground up for one thing and one thing only: bringing down the house with its earth-shattering Class D 1,000 RMS, bi-amp module (2 x 500), 15” woofer, 6.5” midrange woofer and 1.75” diaphragm compression driver.

And for those of you keeping score at home, the KW135’s extensive DSP featuring “DEEP” and “Intrinsic Correction” technologies enhances system performance and yields a frequency range rating of 33 Hz - 20 kHz, while its 134db Peak SPL rating is (almost) as loud as a jet on takeoff. So while that should be enough serious power for your next gig, hang on; there’s still more…

For example, QSC has you (and the crowd) covered with its “Tilt-Direct” pole cup mounting system technology. With a simple turn of the dial, the KW153 will engage a 7.5 degree downward tilt that directs its acoustic energy onto the audience and off reflective surfaces for applications where maximum coverage from a high-positioned speaker is desired.

Just as forward thinking is QSC’s proprietary “Intrinsic Correction” DSP, first featured in their high-end line array products with spatially averaged measurements to IIR and FIR filters that actively adjust time, frequency and amplitude response to a maximally flat bandpass target. The result is a speaker that behaves equally well across the entire sound field.

Additionally, the KW153 features QSC’s “Directivity Matched Transition” (DMT) DSP that provides for matched LF and HF coverage across the entire listening area, eliminating unnatural "dead" or "hot" frequency zones and for added safety is QSC’s “GuardRail” protection, first introduced on their GX Series amplifiers protects both the amplifier module and your performance from unnatural and destructive clipping.

All KW Series features a four-position mic / line gain switch that allows for connection of a wide variety of devices. Combo XLR and 1/4" TRS inputs accept both mic and line level input while a set of RCA phono inputs (except KW181) allow additional connectivity to portable MP3 players, CD players and line-level mixers. Up to three audio sources can be mixed internally and summed to a balanced output for "daisy-chaining" of multiple units. Separate direct outputs are also provided on each channel for additional output flexibility.

Control
On-board switches provide preset EQ settings. The HF setting (full-range models) can be set to VOCAL BOOST for additional presence in the critical mid-frequency area or FLAT for accurate reproduction of the incoming signal. The LF switch can be set to NORM, DEEP™ for additional bass extension, or EXT SUB (full-range models) for use with an external subwoofer. The rear panel LED switch can be set to POWER, illuminating the front-mounted LED when the unit is powered on, OFF for applications where it is not desirable to illuminate the front LED, or LIMIT which indicates to the system operator that the clip limiter circuit has been engaged during operation.

Remote Gain
Remote gain control capability is offered via a potentiometer (not included) connected to the on-board Phoenix-Style connector. In an installed application, multiple KW Series speakers can be "daisy-chained" for total gain control from a single remote pot. Auto-standby mode is engaged after 5 minutes of inactivity.

KW Series is designed to withstand the rigors of professional use. Advanced construction processes, premium-grade Baltic birch cabinetry, ergonomic, cast aluminum handles, low-noise casters (KW181) and a highly protective steel grille provide for ease of transport and long term durability. Integrated M10 suspension points allow for flown applications with a KW M10 KIT (sold separately) and a threaded pole receptacle (KW181) provides for a positive, wobble free connection to a threaded speaker pole (included).

The QSC KW153 1000 Watt 15 Inch 3-Way Active Loudspeaker is a very cool and versatile speaker! These pack a great punch without distorting the sound. You can use these are your on stage mains for a pretty good size venue. They aren't too heavy either so you can stack them on a sub without breaking your back. The QSC KW153 has a 6.5 in driver for the high mids in the cabinet and it does a great job. These 3 ways boxes are fantastic and very transparent through out the frequency spectrum. The deep switch is fantastic. They sound like there are subs at the venue. Very simple to use. They are very durable, nice solid birch cabinets but are still light enough for to pick up and place them on subs without a second person. These speakers are worth every penny. I purchased a pair of these and I just got back from testing these KW153's out.... Well all I got to say is... They are so Amazing! I haven't even heard what they can do inside yet. Anyway, outside in a 200 yard square they consumed the entire area. I stood at about 50+ yards away and could still feel the bass. I do christian music, so I was playing soft rock to hard rock, and some hip hop style... All around great speaker! if you only have money for one pair of these and no subs, I feel confident that these speakers can handle their own....
