The jam tracks are gorgeous and they are recorded by fantastic musicians. Great practice tool!

I already own and use a Spider IV 75 watt amp for performance, so I know what they are capable of and how to use them in terms of modeling and such. I also have a home recording studio so I'm comfortable with the concepts of recording. The great thing about this amp is how it simplifies the entire process of building rehearsal loops to jam and practice with, combined with the flexibility of the large array of amp models, effects, and sounds it can produce. I initially sat down and played around with this amp at my local Sam Ash, and I was hooked within 10 minutes...but I kept playing with it for an hour or so. Line 6 seems to have thought of everything when it comes to a viable, versatile practice amp. There's a pretty good selection of jam tracks built into the amp, and you are free to build more of them to suit you. But one of the most impressive aspects of the amp is that it automatically selects the appropriate amp preset to match the jam track. This means you just select the track, press play, and your settings are perfectly matched up whether it's metal, jazz, soft rock, blues, country...etc. This is ideal for someone like me that tends to play a variety of styles when I'm gigging. Because they are loops you can experiment to your heart's content exploring different riffs without having to worry about restarting the song. This little amp is chock full of capabilities that I would like to use, but I don't know if I'll ever get around to them. Like the secondary guitar input which would be great for building a loop using an acoustic guitar, or jamming along with a loop using the mic input and a harmonica. There's even the possibility of using my home recording studio along with Band-In-A-Box for building jams and transferring them to the amp with a memory card. The possibilities seem endless. Although I could use this on stage as it pretty much has the same functionality as my Spider IV, I doubt I will. It's way too perfect as a practice amp to risk hauling it around to gigs. I can see there might be people that wouldn't care so much for this amp however. If you are a non-technical kind of person that just wants to plug in, adjust some knobs and play, I doubt you'd get anywhere close to the value this amp has to offer, and you would undoubtedly be put off by the rather steep learning curve that comes with learning how to set this amp up for yourself. The same might be true if you're a pedal freak. The amp can probably come very close to doing everything your pedals are doing, so you'd really be bypassing most of it's core functionality that you'd paid for.

This is great for what I use it. I use it for practice with my band it's LOUD I turn it up halfway when we play loud and the whole street can hear it. I have had it now for about 7 months and is great. I used it at my school talent show with my band and the judges' comments on the amp were that it is loud. It sounds great, I love the ability to program and save your tones. It's no fx unit but it gets the job DONE. Soon I want buy the HD500 and hopefully a dt50 halfstack with it only because I want a tube amp to use as my band plays bigger venues. I don't see or hear the sound cloud up and sound muddy as it's turned up as other people have stated, it sounds great and powerful when turned up. Overall it's great for practice, for band rehearsals, and for performances like restaurants and bars, etc... even school gyms. It can do so many things and the only way you'll appreciate it is if you BUY IT

You will have to take the time to learn the functions but once you do WoW! With the recording feature and drum's you are a one man band. When the drummer dosen't show up for practice - not a problem if you take the time to learn what this thing can do. This is not my tube amp (which i love)this does all the rest, practice, effects, modeling, tuning, detuning, and the list goes on. Every beginer needs one of these because it would grow with you.

I love that you can just turn it on & go! I HAVE a Marshall DSL-100 half stack---ALL TUBE---It's great,...but it's just me---For less than $500, you have an IGQB - (Instant Great Quality Band)---It's THEE BEST way to get better, (unless you are already in a bad) & even then you can work on your chops as you take your playing to levels you just thought were out of reach for you---because you will NOW be aquiring chops if you didn't have prior---I still don't know my keys, modes, etc...ok, Am I ca fly,,...that's it though, but I am getting so much feel & it's making my fun come back so I AM learning & looking forward to things now that before were just---not worth it (to me) ---NOW---I want to keep learning so I can instantly go play---Practicing by yourself IS needed, but get this & you will love & look forward to it---1 more thing---I,& I expect you will NOT feel STUCK anymore---Pop the 1/2 G---Well worth it---Perfect for novice to almost pro---The pros do the same---THEY just have a band at the ready & until you do---This is for you---I am sincere with this---sure a tube sound would be nice,...Ha---Then you wouldn't need anything EVER though...Disclosure---I WAS going for the Boss BR series---I never made it to try them---so All I know is that (I) am happy with it. Maybe the Boss BR1600 is good---but, I know this is great. But you decide.

I just play for fun, but I play a lot, some days 8 hrs. plus. That being said I love this amp. The ability to record something you come up with at the simple push of a button is great. Also, the tracks stored in the memory to jam along with are really cool. I see comments about this amp putting down it's tone because it's not a tube amp, well duh, it's not a tube amp, but it still sounds great for what it is. And for someone starting out to go and get all of the pedals they would need to get half the sounds this amp can get would cost more than the amp alone. I have figured out how to d-load my favorite songs into the amp so they are at the push of a button to jam along with, let's see your rich boy Mesa do that. That being said, Would I like to have a Marshall half stack , or a Mesa? Well, sure. But do I need to drop 2000 on a amp that will just tick off my neighbors (huh, this one is capable of that). Bottom line, this amp is overloaded with features that are a lot of fun and sounds really good, not Marshall or Mesa tube great but good enough for me. For a noob or experienced player an all around amp, it simply can't be beat

I've had this for almost 1 year now. It's the best all around amp I've ever used. I have friends with 20+ years exp. & they are lovin' this thing. The jam tracks are great and increased the rate at which I learn X 10. It's really loud. No prob. playing with any drummer. The models are the best, my fav. is "Cowboy Hell" but there are so many it's hard the stick with just one. Line 6 sent an update via email and I downloaded it to my amp and now I have more pitch & tempo combinations among other things. I think that even a pro player would enjoy this amp, if for nothing else than to practice improvising in any key with multi genres of music. It also has a studio out for recording in your home studio. This thing is great. Unless you need to play a large venue this amp is all you'll need!

I've owned this amp about 3 months and still keep finding new tones to play with. I use it to play at home and would highly recommend it to any musician who just wants to keep playing.
