In celebration of the beauty and culture of the Gifu, Japan, where Takamine's guitars have been painstakingly crafted since the early '60s, Takamine is excited to release their latest limited edition model for 2018—the Gifu-Cho acoustic-electric guitar. Featuring a distinctive "Gifu-Cho" inlay scheme that you'll never find again on any other Takamine after this one, this rare beauty is also made from a beautiful pairing of tonewoods. Yes, this may be a piece that collectors are sure to love, but performers will love it too thanks to the premium onboard Takamine electronics. If you're a player or collector looking for a truly rare, exceptional, and exquisitely-appointed instrument with great sound for studio and stage work, the Takamine Limited Edition 2018 Gifu-Cho will make a wonderful addition to your collection.

Distinctive "Gifu-Cho" Inlay Scheme
At first glance, you'll notice the inlay scheme on this striking Gifu-Cho consists of meticulously inlaid butterflies, which are known as "Spring Ephemeral." These butterflies only flourish for a brief period of times in the meadows and hills between the forest and villages of Gifu, where their time is spent fluttering around the beautiful violet flowers while enjoying the company of the neighboring people. These alluring inlays start out at the headstock and make their way down to the fingerboard and pickguard. Abalone top trim, an abalone rosette, and an abalone headstock logo provide an extra touch of elegance. Dressed in a full gloss finish, the cedar top employs an "antique whitewash" treatment while ivoroid binding and gold tuners with ivoroid buttons round out this

Beautiful Pairing of Tonewoods
A guitar this beautiful wouldn't be anything without an amazing tonewood set. Featuring the NEX body, the Gifu-Cho is crafted using a solid cedar top and ovangkol back & sides to produce a warm, full voice that fingerstyle players and strummers are sure to appreciate. It also sports an African mahogany neck and an ebony fingerboard, offering smooth playability across the entire neck.

Premium Onboard Takamine Electronics
For superior amplified tone, the Gifu-Cho comes equipped with Takamine's exclusive Palathetic pickup. The pickup incorporates individually shielded piezo-electric elements for each string that penetrate the bridge plate, bridge, and guitar top, which results in rich harmonics and natural tonal qualities. Paired with the first and only onboard tube preamp, the CTP-3 CoolTube preamp, the sound of this Takamine is unbelievably rich and full-bodied. Boasting a 12AU7 dual-triode vacuum tube that runs at very low wattages to keep it cool to the touch, you can even adjust the tube tone for dial in anything from a luscious bright tone to thick and warm. The full-range EQ section allows for precise tonal shaping, which includes bass, middle, and treble controls plus an additional mid-frequency knob to further shape your mids. The convenient onboard tuner will provide precise, accurate tuning so you're never out of tune for your gigs.
