Légère Saxophone reeds are available for virtually all saxophones and have a beautiful tone and range, together with all the normal advantages of a synthetic reed.  One of the best features of a Légère reed is that it does not need to be moistened prior to playing. It will warm up over the first few minutes, and should then be stable for an extended period. Légère reeds are graded with great accuracy and sold in ¼ strengths. Each reed has a serial number and a strength which will correspond closely to a typical cane reed strength scale. The best thing about this material is it's sound. Professional players often use the word “woody” to describe it and this is the highest compliment! We know that you won’t believe it until you play the reed yourself...so give it a try!

The original cuts are designed for a darker sound and generally used for a classical set-up. New players should choose the Studio Cut.

It last longer by about 2 years if taken care of.T his works great and sounds better than ordinary reeds. No pre wetting and increases proffessionalism. Much easier to play after 1 week break in.

A Great Reed

I have tried many different synthetic reeds, and I have found after trying them all, this is the closest one to a cane reed. It requires no wetting, and does not warp which makes it better than a cane reed. If you want to get away from cane reeds you have to try this one.

The Reed actually sent to me by Sam Ash was a 2.5 (second time they got the strength wrong) and was just beyond my ability. I hate the harsh sound in the low register when the Reed is too stiff for the player. I have some 30 plus Legere reeds so I am knowledgeable. I find they are no more consistent than cane reeds. When you get a good one the benefit is it will last much longer and does not deteriorate over time. The reeds can be straightened if they warp by carefully pushing on a flat surface until it is back to shape. I have only had one that squeaks but it is possible. I am sorry some players try one and that is it. Also, if you want to take advantage of the guarantee and send it back to Legere, you must fill out customs forms and send to Canada.
