Byron Allen


Byron is a freelance trombonist and brass instructor that performs regularly with local Chicago Bands. He studied jazz performance at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign under the direction of Jim Pugh.
While studying music in college, he performed with the top jazz ensemble, the award-winning U of I Jazz Trombone ensemble, and formed his own brass band that performed in the Urbana-Champaign area.
Awards received in college include; The Division Achievement Scholarship, National Jazz Trombone Competition Finalist, and The International Jazz Trombone Competition Top Three Finalist.

Byron has performed professionally across the United States- including in Hershey Park, Pennsylvania, as well as working as a professional musician for the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus Band.
His influences in the industry include big names, such as Wynton Marsalis, Count Basie, Carl Fontana, Hans Zimmer, Maynard Ferguson, Trombone Shorty, Al Grey, and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band.
